Veterans Wheelchair Games logo, linked to news release

Omaha Hosts Wheelchair Games
More than 500 veterans with physical disabilities will meet in Omaha, Neb., July 25–29, to test themselves in 17 competitive events at the 28th National Veterans Wheelchair Games. The event, sponsored by VA and the Paralyzed Veterans of America, is open to all U.S. military veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition due to spinal cord injuries, certain neurological conditions, amputations or other mobility impairments. Federal Recovery Coordinators
To improve services to those seriously injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, VA – in coordination with the Departments of Defense and Health and Human Services – has established a new office and deployed workers to key military treatment facilities as part of the joint Federal Recovery Coordinator Program. The program is designed to cut across bureaucratic lines to identify services needed for seriously wounded and ill service members, veterans and their families. (more)
